Invitation to Create: Moveable Modern Art {and a Giveaway!}

I’m so excited to share a few more invitations to create with you that we did this past week including making moveable modern art! Both of these invitations were inspired by free materials sent to us from Pom Tree Kids that we recently had the opportunity to play and create with. (Disclosure: The following post is a paid campaign for Pom Tree Kids and Blueprint Social. Please read our disclosure policy for more information.)

Invitation to Create~ Modern Art

Included in our generous box of materials we received were two Mega Kits, each containing over 1000 crafting pieces. The moment I saw these Mega Kits, I knew they would be perfect for some open-ended creative play.

For the first invitation to play, I set out all the crafting materials that came in one of the mega kit boxes. The kit included chenille stems, pom poms, foam and felt stickers, pony beads, foam sticks, and chipboard shapes.

Aren’t all these materials just beautiful! As soon as Lucy got home from school she couldn’t wait to get started! She made all kinds of creations from bugs to jewelry. One of her favorite finished projects were the bookmarks we made together. (I love how the mega kits can be used independently by the child, but also are perfect for whole family fun!) After she was done creating, there were still TONS of materials left for future use!

Moveable Modern Art

The next day I set out the foam craft sticks and foam stickers from the Pom Tree Kids Mega Kit, along with some brads and a mini-hole puncher we had here at home. Once Lucy got home from school and saw this waiting for her, she was ecstatic! She got busy immediately, and I eventually had to join in because it looked so fun!

We ended up creating moveable modern art!  Here’s how we did it.

  • First we punched holes into the foam craft sticks from the Pom Tree Kids Mega Kit using our mini hole puncher.
  • Then we attached the foam craft sticks together using brads in any formation we wanted. The brads make this super fun because they allow the craft sticks to be moved around at different angles.

  • Finally, we decorated our craft sticks with the foam stickers from the mega kits. I just love how these turned out!
