Such a simple activity for Christmas that kids love! (Complete the Drawing~ BuggyandBuddy.com)

We’re back with our third and final post of our Christmas Play Series! (You can find the links to my co-hosts posts at the end of this post.) Our final post in the series is our simplest yet, but still provides plenty of inspiration for creativity! You’ll only need a couple of common supplies to put together this invitation to create. Christmas Activities for Kids: Complete the Christmas Picture

To create this activity all you’ll need to do is draw very simple Christmas themed picture on a large piece of paper. (I tore off a long piece of easel paper to do this.)

Place the picture where it the kids can easily access it, along with some crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Then invite your children to create! You might even want to  join in the fun!

The first picture I set up for the kids was a variety of large, empty gifts. I couldn’t wait to see what they did with them! Lucy drew some ribbons on some and filled one up with love. Too cute!

Before Theo began drawing he ran to get our little wooden gift toy from our Snowy Christmas Tree Small World. He was so excited to connect the idea of a gift from a previous activity to the activity he was about to do! He then busily drew in one of the boxes. He said he was making a school bus!

I left this out for most of the day, and the kids would often come back to it,  adding more details and ideas.

The next day I did a similar picture, but added a Christmas tree.  In addition to the crayons, I left out a few sticky gift bows.

Lucy and Theo immediately decorated their gifts and selected bows to put on each one. Then Lucy decided the tree needed a star on top. She remembered that our children’s book, Draw Me a Star, had directions on how to draw a star in the back of the book. She quickly found it and followed the directions to make her own star.

I love the simplicity of these invitations to create. I can’t wait to come up with new ones over the next few weeks!
