My daughter loved making this mason jar lantern craft using just a few simple materials. And I just love crafts that allow for learning as well- creating this gorgeous beaded handle provided the perfect opportunity for fine motor practice. This is definitely one of our favorite crafts for kids!

Materials for Mason Jar Lantern Craft
- Mason Jar
(in any size)
- Tissue Paper Squares
- Liquid Glue
- Mod Podge
- Paintbrush
- Craft Wire
- Wooden Craft Beads
- Candle
Directions for Mason Jar Lantern Craft
1. Use liquid glue to attach your tissue paper squares to your mason jar.
2. Once the glue has dried, paint a layer of Mod Podge over the jar and allow it to dry.
3. Now it’s time to add the wire handle. We just kind of made it up as we went along! (Here’s a great tutorial on how to add a wire handle securely to your jar. Just be sure to add the beads to your handle rather than leaving it plain.)
4. Add your candle to the jar. I used the hot glue gun to attach our candle to the bottom of the jar so it wouldn’t move around. Never leave your child unattended with a lit candle. (If you’re nervous about using a real candle, I love these LED Tea Lights.)
We loved how our lantern turned out and really enjoyed using it on some evening walks!
