If you have a child that loves playing with toy cars, why not integrate the cars into a fun name practice activity! Create roads for the toy cars using the letters of your child’s name to create this tactile name activity for kids!

Toy Car Name Activity for Kids~ Buggy and Buddy

My son has been showing a very strong interest in learning to spell his first name. I decided to build on that interest by creating a fun name activity using one of his favorite playthings- toy cars!

This name activity took me under 10 minutes to make and has been such a great learning resource for my son! (This post contains affiliate links.)

Name Activity Using Toy Cars

Materials for Name Activity

  • White foam board
  • Black paint
  • Foam brush or paint brush
  • White paint pen
  • Some toy cars

Making & Using the Name Activity

1. Use the black paint and foam brush to paint your child’s name onto the foam board. (I started with the middle two letters and worked my way out towards the sides to be sure I had enough room for his whole name.)

paint the name in black

2. After the black paint has dried, use a white paint pen to draw dashes inside the letters to create roads.

add white lines to make roads

3. Let it dry and you’re ready to play!

I placed one car in each letter before inviting Theo to play. He was so excited when he saw the activity- “That my name!”

Theo started out playing by driving each car around its corresponding letter and often telling me which letter he was driving in.

Later he filled each letter with as many cars as he could!

This is such an easy activity to grab whenever you need something quick and easy.  And it can even be used as a car ramp (like in our homemade car ramp activity)!
