It’s such a memorable experience for kids to make their own valentines to pass out to friends and classmates. Previously I shared a few homemade valentine options with you, our play dough and cookie cutter valentine and our butterfly pencil valentines.
I’m so excited to introduce you to another candy-free valentine alternative- our homemade valentines using plants and seeds. Kids (and teachers) always get excited to receive these homemade valentines. It’s the valentine that keeps on giving! (This post contains affiliate links.)
Plant and Seeds Homemade Valentines
There’s quite a few variations to this valentine depending on how many recipients you have and how much money you’re wanting to spend. Let me show you some options:
The first thing you’ll want to do is print out the free valentine cards on white card stock and cut them apart. There’s four valentines per sheet so print out as many as you need.
Seed Packet Homemade Valentines
The simplest valentine is the seed packet valentine. You simply staple a seed packet to the back of the valentine- that’s it! You can buy seed packets online or head out to your local nursery to get your seed packets.
Mini Seed Packet Homemade Valentine
Another option that’s more cost effective is attaching little baggies of beans or seeds to each valentine. Simply place a few bean seeds in the corner of a baggie and cut off all the extra baggie. Punch two small holes into the valentine with a mini hole punch, pull a small ribbon through each hole, and tied the ribbon securely to hold the little baggie of bean seeds.
Potted Plant and Flower Teacher Valentine
A potted plant or flower would make a lovely gift for a teacher or daycare provider! Glue one valentine onto a popsicle stick or craft stick and place it in the pot with your flowers or plant. Such a cute gift!
