Outdoor Scavenger Hunt for Kids
We are taking full advantage of summer with all our scavenger hunts! We’ve been using our sound walk frequently, as well as our beach scavenger hunt and our tide pool scavenger hunt at our local beaches. Now we’re adding to our scavenger hunt collection with this outdoor scavenger hunt for kids!
I had so much fun creating this scavenger hunt. First I made sure to include all kinds of sensory words, like “find something rough” and “find something smooth”, since both my 3 year old and 6 year old respond well to sensory activities. We also love sketching so I made sure to leave enough room for kids to sketch their findings. And, in case your child is not yet reading independently, each item on the list is a different color so you can easily refer to it.
First you’ll want to print out the scavenger hunt printable. We put ours on a clipboard and grabbed a pencil before heading out on our walk.
Lucy found something huge pretty easily!
Here’s something that feels rough.
And here’s a nice spot to sit and sketch for a few minutes.
We had lots of fun on our outdoor scavenger hunt! I think it will be fun to take it to different locations, like the beach and playground, to see how our findings differ from place to place!
