Elmer the Elephant has become a favorite storybook character here at home. After reading Elmer by David McKee with the kids, we were inspired to make our own elephants using stencils and sponge painting.

Because Theo is still quite a fan of Elmer, I decided to search the internet for even more fun Elmer activities. Here are some activities and crafts for kids that would go perfectly with a unit on Elmer or as an extension to many of the Elmer books including Elmer’s Special Day and Elmer and the Rainbow.

  1. Thanks for including our Kandinsky Elmer! My 4 yo is in love with this book, and the entire series. She gets a book buddy sent home from preschool each week (a book in a bag with a stuffed animal), and last week, it was Elmer with the matching stuffed elephant. She cried when she had to take it back on Friday!

    • I am just in LOVE with your Kadinsky Elmer!! Such a cool idea! And the book buddy idea is so cute- I can see how it must have been hard to part with cute, little Elmer! 🙂
