Lucy just recently turned 5! (I can not believe how quickly time goes by~ Am I really a parent to a 5 year old already?)
We celebrated her 5th birthday with a bird themed birthday party at a nearby park with all her adorable friends. Not only was the party extremely memorable, but so were all the preparations beforehand. Lucy was so involved in almost every aspect of planning the party, from creating her own birthday invitations to planning the activities!
I tried to capture as much of the planning and actual event as I could, but as the party got closer and closer, my time for taking pictures got less and less. Here’s what I did get around to documenting~
Lucy and I designed and created her birdie birthday invitations. You can read about how we did it here.
The party favors were also fun to make and put together. We used this tutorial to make birdseed ornaments. We placed each one in a bag with a label. (I was so nervous the kids would think it was a cookie or treat if I didn’t label it.)
I also made some little birdie clips to put in the favor bags. Here’s the tutorial for the hair clips.
We also bought these bird stickers (Amazon affiliate link) to place in the favor bags. Finally we put all the favors in cute polkadot bags and secured them with little pinwheels. Here they all are ready for the party!
To keep the kids busy during the party we bought some sidewalk chalk and bubbles. (The little pink tubes of bubbles in the wedding section at Michaels were the perfect size!) There were also wooden bird houses to paint and bird wand making kits.
We also had a piñata. (Lucy was very adamant about this!) I was a bit nervous never having actually done one of these, but it turned out perfect! We bought a pull string piñata and lots of fun goodies to put inside. And we pulled the whole thing off with no candy! Instead we used lots of art supplies like pompoms, foam stickers and flower stickers. We also added some bracelets and erasers.
Of course we finished the whole event off with cake and presents! Such a fun day!
