About Pete’s a Pizza

Have you read the children’s book, Pete’s a Pizza? We were first introduced to it when Theo started preschool and just had to buy a copy of our very own.

Pete's a Pizza

In this story, poor Pete finds himself bored on a rainy day. His father decides to cheer him up by making him into a pizza! To Pete’s delight, his dad kneads him and adds some toppings to Pete (like checkers for tomatoes and pieces of paper for cheese) and places him in the oven (the couch). And just as he’s about to be eaten, Pete the Pizza runs away and gets a big hug from Dad.

Retelling Pete’s a Pizza

Your child will have a blast retelling this story with you. He or she can play the part of Pete and get made into a pizza using the same materials that were used in the story! Your child can also pretend to be the parent and retell the story using a doll or stuffed animal. Lots of fun for little ones!

Here’s even more ways to extend the story with pizza-themed crafts, learning activities, and pizza recipes.
