I remembered making these cute Christmas wreath ornaments when I was a child so I couldn’t wait to make some with Lucy and Theo! It was the perfect activity for both my 3 year old and 6 year old! (This post contains affiliate links.)
Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Tear Art Christmas Wreath
Materials for Homemade Christmas Ornament
- Small piece of cardboard or card stock. (You could even use a paper plate.)
- Green and red construction paper
- Single hole punch
- Liquid glue
- Thin red ribbon
- Scotch tape
Directions for Making Homemade Christmas Ornament
1. Start by cutting out a circle from your cardboard. You can make it any size you’d like!
2. Then fold it in half so you can easily cut out the center of the circle. You’re now left with a blank wreath.
3. Tear small pieces of green construction paper and glue them all over the wreath.
Theo put the glue around his whole ornament first…
… and then added his paper.
4. Once the wreath is fully covered, it’s time to add some red berries. Use your single hole punch to punch out some red circles from your red construction paper. Glue the tiny, red circles onto the wreath.
5. Tie a bow using your red ribbon and glue it to the bottom of your ornament.
6. Cut off another piece of the ribbon and tape it to the top of your ornament for hanging.
Here’s all three of our ornaments: Mine is on the left side, my six year old’s is up at the top and my 3 year old’s is down at the bottom.
Be sure to write your child’s name on the back and the date so you’ll always have this special memory each year when you decorate your tree for the holidays!
