Here’s a quick and easy spring themed sensory bin to encourage all kinds of sensory play! Both my 2 year old and 6 year old have been playing with it daily!

The kids always love sensory bin play, and I hadn’t put together a new sensory bin for them since our car themed sensory box from a few months ago. I went through my giant plastic bin of sensory materials and pulled out some supplies to put together this spring themed sensory bin! (This post contains affiliate links to Amazon. Spring Themed Sensory Bin
Materials for Sensory Bin
- Plastic Box or other container to hold the materials
- Green split peas
- Colorful straws (I found some wide ones at our local craft store.)
- Flower sequins (similar to these)
- Little clay pots (like these)
- Popsicle stick flowers (optional)
Setting Up the Sensory Bin
I pulled out my favorite 28 quart plastic box that we usually use for sensory bin play and poured in some green split peas. (When you are done with the split peas, be sure to keep them for future bins and crafts! I have a big plastic bin where I keep all my sensory bin materials like pastas, beans, and lentils to be used again.)
I added some striped paper straws and flower sequins.
And I had saved all the materials from our Alphabet Flower Garden, so I used some little clay pots and the popsicle stick flowers from that activity in the bin.
Playing with the Spring Themed Sensory Bin
Theo was the first to play with the sensory bin since Lucy was at school. He loved putting all the split peas through the straws and running his hands through the split peas over and over!
The next morning both kids wanted to play with the sensory bin as soon as they woke up. I put it outside on the patio for some fun outdoor sensory play. Lucy loved pretending the split peas were magical! She would ‘plant’ them in the little pots and beanstalks would grow!
Sensory bins are also fun to do in small groups or pairs. Theo and Miss B had lots of fun exploring our spring themed sensory bin together!
