Are you looking for more letter activities for your children to play with at home? These are perfect~ letter stones! I am so in love with them! They are absolutely enjoyable to play with and were really easy and inexpensive to make.
I saw this post on making story stones from Happy Hooligans and pinned it on Pinterest quite a while ago. I thought I’d start saving up stones we found to begin making our own collection, but that was sadly taking too long.
Yesterday I was at Michaels (for something unrelated), and I noticed they had bags of river stones on sale for $1.00 so I grabbed a few bags, some extra Mod Podge and headed for the sticker aisle. As I was browsing for stickers that might make good story stones, I went by the letter stickers. Inspiration hit! Not only am I going to make story stones, wouldn’t letter stones be great?! I searched for way too long because I am overly picky for a bit and finally found some letter stickers that were lower case and a decent font for younger kids. I checked out and headed home.
I set up the work area and rinsed the stones. Then I just applied the stickers to each stone and sealed them with Mod Podge. Voila! Letter stones!
You can never have too many toys around your house that encourage both learning and play~ so excited to add these to our collection! If you have younger children, check the sizes of your stones for choking hazards. These are very small, so we only use them with Theodore when we are right there with him.
