Our second child, Jake, had a favorite book, “Popcorn.” We got so tired of reading it that we would hide it everywhere, but somehow he always managed to find it! I now love to read that same dog-eared copy of it to my pre-K class each year and talk about how much my son loved it. That leads into a discussion of their favorite books and gives that warm fuzzy feeling we all love to experience with young children!! Thanks for the reminder to allow books to show signs of love!!

Wow! That is such a great accomplishment, Rebecca! I love how they’ve been writing their own thank you notes. I will have to remember that. I usually write their dictations, but I should have them take part as well.

We have books prominently displayed in each of the kids rooms and in the living room. I also have had the girls “write” thank you notes since they could draw. We also spend a good amount of time reading together and visiting the library for story time and book browsing regularly. I’m so proud that yesterday, the day before my daughter’s 5th birthday, she read her first book all on her own!! 🙂
