Here’s a simple Halloween necklace craft for kids using common crafting materials like pipe cleaners, straws, and beads. Not only will children have fun creating, but they’ll have a chance to practice those fine motor skills too!

Lately Theo has been absolutely enthralled with stringing things. I often find him in the playroom stringing some little letter beads from an old craft set onto laces. His interest in practicing these fine motor skills inspired me to create this Halloween themed invitation to create, (somewhat similar to this heart themed fine motor activity)! Materials for Halloween Fine Motor Craft
- Tray
- Pipe cleaners
- Yarn
- Plastic or paper straws
- Orange pony beads or wooden beads
Setting Up the Halloween Activity
This invitation was so simple to set up and literally took about ten minutes total. I cut up some straws into small pieces and placed them in a tray. And after searching my craft supply stash, I found some wooden beads, pipe cleaners, and yarn which I also added to the tray. (I added a small piece of tape the one end of each piece of yarn to make lacing easier.) When selecting the materials, I focused on the colors orange, black and green for Halloween!
Creating Halloween Necklaces and Bracelets
I loved how this invitation was so much fun for both Lucy and Theo! Theo, my 2 year old, solely enjoyed stringing all the different materials onto pipe cleaners. He did this over and over and over! Lucy, my 5 year old, seemed to have an end goal in mind with this invitation~ making bracelets and necklaces. I even noticed her creating patterns with the colors!
