These super easy to make jingle sticks and jingle bell rings are great homemade toys to inspire creative play! You’ll only need a few materials and about 15 minutes time.
I love making homemade toys for the kids, especially ones that are inexpensive and easy to make. These jingle sticks and rings are so simple to create and have provided so much fun for both Lucy and Theo!
Lucy loves doing performances with them. We’ve heard many songs sung to the beat of the jingle stick and jingle ring. They have also been used outside in dinosaur and fairy play recently!
Jingle Sticks and Jingle Rings Tutorial
Here’s how to make your own jingle sticks and jingle rings! (This post contains affiliate links to Amazon. Thank you so much for your support!)
Materials
- Sticks from outside, dowels, or any type of grapevine wreath. (I found my ring shape at the local dollar store.)
- Scraps of fabric torn into strips and ribbon scraps
- Jingle bells (Our colorful jingle bells were provided to us by Craftprojectideas.)
Directions
These are just so simple to make! Start randomly tying scraps of fabric and ribbons to your stick or ring.
Easy toy tip: I always have a basket full of fabric scraps in our playroom for the kids. It actually gets a lot of use! Sometimes Lucy uses the fabric to decorate her restaurant or stage area for a performance. She also ties fabric together to create a leash for her stuffed unicorn. Theo uses the scraps to make beds for his stuffed animals, and sometimes his cars go traveling through a giant fabric hill!
As you’re tying ribbon onto your stick or ring, occasionally string a jingle bell onto it and tie it securely. Once you are satisfied with how it looks and sounds, it’s ready for action!
Kids can even help to create these homemade toys. Lucy is learning to tie knots so this is perfect practice for her. Theo enjoys selecting the fabric and ribbon to be tied next.
