Small world play is such a fun and creative way to encourage imaginative play. Small worlds provide children with the opportunity to immerse themselves in sensory play while creating all kinds of make-believe stories in the process.
Often I set up small worlds based on the current season or any upcoming holidays since my children are often expressing interest in those areas. Last fall they had fun playing with our Under the Fall Tree small world. And now that it’s winter, our Winter Wonderland small world is getting lots of action.
But it’s also important to look outside seasonal play and observe your children’s other interests. I hope the small worlds I’m featuring this week will serve as inspiration for you to create your own small worlds based on your child’s current interests throughout the year!
