Our entire family is a huge fan of Star Wars! When Lucy’s school had a Star Wars movie night, Lucy really wanted to dress up as Princess Leia for the event. I grabbed a few materials and whipped up this super easy Princess Leia costume.
Now that the movie night has passed, Lucy has been wearing it for pretend play. It would also make an easy Halloween costume! This post contains affiliate links.
DIY Princess Leia Costume
Start by finding something completely white to wear. Lucy had this white cotton dress that worked perfectly. You could also wear a white shirt with white leggings or even a white bath robe!
For Princess Leia’s belt, I cut a small piece of gold stretch sequin trim (similar to this trim) and safety pinned the strip together to make a belt. She slipped it on over the dress.
We decided to go with the traditional Princess Leia hairstyle with two buns. I put her hair in two ponytails and twisted the ponytails into buns and secured with hairpins. (These are our favorite hairpins for thick, long hair like Lucy’s. We use them to make ballet buns all the time!)
This light saber made the perfect accessory. It lights up and makes all kinds of cool light saber sounds!
