Here’s a beautiful handprint craft for kids that would make a perfect homemade Mother’s Day gift! The handprint art (or any other artwork you’d like to make) is painted directly onto the cork board, making a great pin board for coupons, photos, or little notes!

I’m always on the lookout for new crafts for kids, and recently I was at Michael’s and saw they had cork board sheets on sale. What a fun canvas those would make!
They are thin enough you can cut them to any size you’d like and really hold acrylic paint well. The best part is you can just paint them and hang them as artwork, or even make them functional and pin coupons or other notes to them. And they’d make a great Mother’s Day gift! Cork Board Art for Kids
Materials for Cork Board Art
- Cork board sheets (like these) or cork board squares (like these)
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrushes
1. Cut the cork board into whatever size you want.
2. Paint your design on the cork board using acrylic paints.
First, Lucy painted a smaller cork board as a gift to me. So cute!
Lucy and I teamed up for the next painting. You’ve probably seen the adorable take on Pablo Picasso’s “Fleurs et Mains” you can do with kids. You just help your child make his or her handprint with paint onto the cork board, and then paint some flowers. It makes a great keepsake! We used to paint these on paper for Mother’s Day when I was a classroom teacher, but I almost think they stand out even more on the cork board.
And here’s a couple smaller handprints paintings with borders around the edges. I think these would make a really cute gift for Mother’s Day, maybe with some matching ribbon glued to the top for hanging?
