Do you remember doing Sun Art as a child? I ran across it a right before the holidays, and it brought back so many happy childhood memories! I ended up buying some to give to Lucy as a Christmas gift, and she’s loved it!
Here’s what Sun Art is all about if you’re not familiar with it. The packet comes with sheets of sun sensitive paper and a clear acrylic sheet. You place objects on one sheet of paper, and place it in the sun (covered with the acrylic sheet to keep the objects from blowing away). The sun sensitive chemicals on the paper react to the light and turn the paper white (except the area that’s covered with the objects).
Once the paper is ready, you bring it in and rinse it in water to stop the process. Let it dry, and your art is ready!
To start our sun art, Lucy and I first went in our backyard and searched for things we could use to make our design. We collected various leaves, flowers, petals, and grass. We put them in a basket and brought them inside. We then worked together to make a design on the paper. I showed Lucy how to cover the paper with the acrylic sheet and carefully care it out to the sun. In about 5 minutes it was ready! We rinsed the paper in the bathroom sink and let it dry. She was hooked! She continued to make more art on her own and was very absorbed in creating her masterpieces.
We having been loving this so much, I wanted to give away a set of Sun Art paper for my very first giveaway! I hope one of you will enjoy it as much as we have!
