Discover and Explore
I’m so excited to be one of the newest co-hosts to the fabulous Discover and Explore weekly themed linky party! It’s my absolute favorite because it’s such a fantastic resource for classroom teachers, homeschool teachers, parents, and bloggers! I just love how there’s a new theme each week giving you the material you need to work on a specific subject in many different ways. You can even find enough material to create a Pinterest board based on the week’s current theme!
How it Works
Every Wednesday I will be sharing one of my own posts based on the week’s particular theme right here on Buggy and Buddy. Four other amazing bloggers will also be sharing posts centered around the week’s theme on their own blogs. We’ll also be inviting any other bloggers with great posts related to the theme to link up their posts too! (See what I mean about it being a GREAT resource?!) And on Friday of the following week, all five blogs will be highlighting some of their favorite ideas shared the previous week.
Meet Your Hosts
I’d love for you to meet the other bloggers I am thrilled to be teaming up with!
Chelsey from Buggy and Buddy
On Buggy and Buddy you’ll find ways to inspire creativity and self-confidence in your children while promoting learning and fun! A few of my favorite posts are Salt Art and Chromatography Butterflies.
Shaunna from Fantastic Fun & Learning
Jacquie from KC Edventures
On KC Edventures you will find a huge variety of hands-on learning activities. (There’s also tons of activities to do for those of you near Kansas City!) A couple of my favorites are Water Rockets for Kids and Create an Outdoor Activity Jar that ‘Rocks’!
Stephanie from Twodaloo
Twodaloo focuses on early childhood activities, crafts and parenting. Being a former speech-language pathologist, Stephanie also incorporates her background into many posts. A few of my favorite posts from Twodaloo are Butterfly Suncatchers and Building Language with Music.
Deborah from Teach Preschool
Teach Preschool is a site dedicated to all things having to do with early childhood education. It is a fabulous resource! I love her list of children’s books and accompanying activities. Be sure to check out Deborah’s just released book, Ready for Kindergarten!
This Week’s Theme: Back to School
We have been doing quite a bit to prepare for the new school year. (Today is actually Lucy’s first day of Kindergarten!)
We began preparing for the new school year by reading all kinds of books having to do with school! Each one was really helpful in initiating a conversation with Lucy about different topics and events associated with a new school year. One topic that came up often from many of the stories was what Lucy might do on her first day of school and feelings she might have during that first day. Being able to talk about this ahead of time seems to have helped ease any anxieties she had about her first day of school.
Another big change this new school year brings us is Lucy will now be able to eat lunch at school! Lucy and I brainstormed ideas for her future lunches and explored her new lunch box. And since our goal this year is to reduce the amount of waste we produce, I sewed up some simple cloth napkins to put in her lunch box in place of paper napkins. Lucy’s so excited about these that she’s even picked out which cloth napkin she wants in her lunch box on the first day! (Be sure to check out my School Lunch Inspiration Pinterest board for some yummy school lunch ideas!)
We’d love for you to share how you
