National Arbor day is almost here. (It’s always the last Friday in April.) In celebration of Arbor Day, I wanted to share some resources for children that you may find useful.
Some of our favorite books about trees:
A Tree Is Nice by Janice May Udry
The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons
The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry
Although Arbor Day is mainly a day set aside each year encouraging the planting of trees, here are some other ways you can celebrate:
- Go on a walk in your neighborhood with a sketchbook. Sketch your favorite trees or try identifying them.
- Check out some nonfiction books about trees from your local library.
- Do bark rubbings with crayons and paper.
- Get our your art materials and paint some trees. Here is some inspiration: Birch Tree Art, Leaf Rubbings & Splatter Paint, Oil Pastel Tree, Watercolor Tree , and a Recycled Paper Tree.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.
