Reading all the community helper themed posts linked up to last week’s Discover & Explore linky was so much fun! Who knew there were so many creative ideas out there to help teach children about community helpers? This week I’m excited to feature ways to set up your own pretend play post office in your home or classroom. (And be sure to check out our current Halloween themed Discover & Explore linky if you haven’t already!)
My kids love imaginative play! I often enjoy providing play props for the kids to inspire their pretend play (although this is certainly not necessary- children seem to be naturals at pretending). Since my kids have recently taken an interest in writing and mailing letters, I set up a pretend play post office in our house (which I shared during last week’s linky). It has been a big hit with the kiddos!
I’d also like to share three other creative ways to create mail centers in your home or classroom shared by some wonderful bloggers! I am just in love with this fun ideas!
Mail Time! Setting Up Your Own Post Office from How Wee Learn
How Wee Learn shares how they made mailboxes for each member of their family and even a mail hat! I love how she incorporated literacy learning so naturally into the pretend play!
Easy, No-Sew Mail and Play Mailbox from Nothing if Not Intentional
This post has an easy tutorial showing how to make that cute mailbox from a cardboard box. I also just love the little felt letters and postcards! My kids would go crazy for this!
Easy Homemade Mailbox from P is for Preschooler
I love this homemade mailbox~ it looks just like the real thing! She also put together a cute little writing kit to go with it. So much fun!
